Ideal for magazines, knitting or toys. This basket is made from fair traded and recycled materials and is helping remote communities in Bangladesh to provide for their families.
The material used to make this basket is called Jute; the cheapest natural fibre available and its environmental attributes are unique, it binds CO2, releases oxygen, enriches soil with nitrogen and organic matter and as well as being bio-degradable, the inner jute system is used as a substitute for wood thereby saving valuable forests.

Our supplier, Maison Bengal was set up in 2004 after the founder and director Sheenagh Day returned from years of aid work in Dhaka. Sourcing all the products from marginalized communities the company aims to economically empower some of the poorest people in Bangladesh.
