Coral Cay Conservation Equipment Gift
Coral Cay Conservation Scholar Project Gift
Coral Cay Conservation provides an opportunity to support coral reef and tropical forest conservation.
Your contribution will go to an action-based organisation with a track record of delivering tangible benefits to the environment and local livelihoods.
"In each of the locations we work, we want to support local scholars in a number of ways, building on an existing programme of community engagement.
We will teach them to dive and then educate them about their coastal resources and its importance in the ecosystem.
We will encourage them to build on this learning by working in partnership with local universities; ideally enabling them to gain further qualifications.
We will encourage them to use their learning to then educate their wider community. Through these local scholars, we help develop the foundations of sustainable conservation."
The project benefits not only the scholars and their families, but also the whole community that depends on the bay for its livelihood.
They encourage the community to work together to protect their natural resources and also develop new ways of generating money in a sustainable way.
The education we provide and support will stay in the area and benefit the community long after we have gone.
"We would like to support 35 scholars each year across all our sites.
We would like to run this project for three years, benefiting 105 local young people in total, starting in September 2008."
£12 would pay for a science manual and underwater slate that local scholars can use during training, but more importantly, keep for future reference.
Sale price includes delivery.
