Our team pledges for World Environment day
20 May 2011
This World Environment Day, our team members have all made pledges to help improve the world a little bit at a time. Albeit one pledge on its own may seem negligible, as a team, we believe many small changes can make big a difference!

Our Managing Director, Graham Simmonds, who also chairs the environmental charity Trees for Cities, has pledged to run the Trees for Cities Tree-Athlon in Battersea Park on Saturday 17 September and to raise enough funds to plant at least another 4 trees in urban areas - and the healthy streak of Team Green Rewards doesn’t stop there; our Head of PR who’s also one of our Directors, Rob, has pledged to start cycling to work from the day after World Environment Day. (Although we’re not quite sure why specifically the day after...)

tree planting, pledge, world environment day 2011Whilst another one of our Directors, Lawrence, is to plant 4 fruit trees in his garden; our Digital Marketing Executive Janet is to start lifting the paving slabs off her new garden, and relocating all her herby pots and plants from the kitchen into the new, (soon to be) much greener lawn.

Impressively, our Operations Manager, Dominic, has gone one step further - not only changing his habits, but encouraging those around him to revolutionize the way they eat...

Living in a shared house with a group of what can only be described as 'mens, men', I have made it my mission this summer to teach them the ways of grow your own fruit and veg. Having already cleared an area in the garden, added some top soil and chosen our selection of produce, including sunflowers (someone always has to be different).

My pledge is not only to try and use as much home grown fruit and vegetable this summer as I can but also to get my fellow housemates interested, looking after and maybe even cooking with the ingredients we grow.

With the football season over, anything could happen.’

If you’ve made a pledge and would like to share with our readers, tweet us on @GreenRewards_UK and we’ll retweet the best pledges!

Promoting CO2 reduction

Congratulations on your committment to CO2 reduction Graham - I had not realised we used 600g CO2 to travel 1 mile to work! Thank you for your support with the Carillion Sustainability Week 6th to 10th June 2011 - we are hoping to get some carbon reduction commitments from our team this year. Bikes are best.
